    Another Nanohcom question

Just looked inside this thingy connected to the pc as a demo mode.
    Looks interesting.
    Question:
In various areas you have the option to enable or disable stuff.
If a bloke was to hit disable, is it set ?
Can the Nanathingy then be disconnected from the Bitch and the disable setting is locked in ?

    Ta.

Usually you need to change the setting and then write the changes to the ECU. Once the changes are written to the ECU they remain as set until you change them.

I'd suggest hooking the Nanocom up to the car and looking at the information available and current settings.
There isn't much you can really learn without connecting to a vehicle.
Providing you don't save settings changes back to the ECU's there is really nothing you can break.

    cheers

Thanks Paul that sounds like good advice and not to complicated.
I will give it a go in the next few days.

    Thanks.

PS: Do I have to write to the ECU in Cypriat or can I use strine ?

Unless you can type fluent binary at 10,000 characters a second its probably easiest just to press the write button.

This had me a little concerned. I mean what would I write. G'day. Beam me up ? Where would I start ?
Is it as simple as just pushing the write button whilst holding ones breath ?

Pretty much, although holding your breath is considered optional, and doesn't effect the outcome.

    What vehicle do you have?

    A 1998 P38a. ( the BITCH ). A 5ltr Davis engine.
It has been fiddled with somewhere in the past and changes not registed.
It has a failing key fob which is on its last legs and cant be replaced in the usual manner or repaired. When the battery dies, crapped.
We have discussed the Bitch at length in other parts of this Forum.
The Nanocom was purchased purely so that the Alarm could be turned off and the Immobiliser disabled. This I have been told will keep the car mobile and not stuck on the side of the track or towed up the paddock and used as a chook pen
Once the things future can be assured the Nanocom can then be used as a diagnostic tool to keep things in check.
Dont ask me about FRACKING EAS. I am sure no chook with any self respect would want anything to do with Lucas EAS crap even if its perch was leather.

    Cheers, I think.

I'm not familiar with the specifics of the P38a modules, so I'm probably not going to be a huge help.

With the settings on d2 modules you make the settings changes you require then use the scroll bar at the bottom of the screen to move to the last page of the settings section, which should have a "write" button on it. This writes the altered setting back to the ECU's non-volatile memory. Until the moment you hit "write" the changes are only held on the Nanocom and nothing is done on the ECU.

    cheers

    Thanks Paul.
I found all that when I was connected to the pc in the demo simulation mode. I wasn't sure whether just hitting the disable button would lock it in. I saw the write bizzo and I wondered what significance it had in the scheme of things and at the same time what would I say to the bugger.
You have clarified those questions so I will hook it up and proceed to disable the thingy's.

    Thanks again.
