I'm not familiar with the specifics of the P38a modules, so I'm probably not going to be a huge help.
With the settings on d2 modules you make the settings changes you require then use the scroll bar at the bottom of the screen to move to the last page of the settings section, which should have a "write" button on it. This writes the altered setting back to the ECU's non-volatile memory. Until the moment you hit "write" the changes are only held on the Nanocom and nothing is done on the ECU.
