Well today I changed out the TPS on the Disco for another one I bought off a forum member (Thanks Offtrack). It was quite a simple job to do, but I did notice a few things which were wrong with my other one. Now it might not have made a difference but I will explain it anyway.
First thing was I checked the manual to see how to do it. That was easy. Basically unclip the loom to the TPS and undo the 2 nuts holding the pedal in. Well that's where I noticed something was wrong! There was only one. Now I remember a few months ago I found a nyloc nut on the floor and wondered where that came from. So I put it in the glove box and forgot about it.
So obviously it has fallen out from the TPS backing plate. And to top it off the one nut wasn't very tight at all. Plus there was no orange clip that is used to line up the pedal . Anyway I changed out the old one for the other I just bought. Tightened the 2 :D nyloc nuts and put in the orange clip that came with the other TPS. And what do you know it seems to work fine!
I've done about 20 km of driving in it and it seems to be good now. Fingers crossed.:) Its hard to know whether having one nut missing , one loose and the clip missing , if it made the missing problems occur. But as long as its driving well now I'm happy. I'll update it again if anything else happens.
Cheers
Chris
Well its been over a month now and 4,000 KM. I'm pretty sure that the problem has been fixed. :D:D Since replacing the TPS I haven't had one fault logged. Happy days!
