Hi,
Have you considered that the receiver maybe playing up?
Couple of weeks ago I had all sorts of issues with the car immobilising and convinced myself it was the BCU, my settings are not dissimilar to yours but its a UK car.
So after getting in a total fuddle, gave it a rest and approached it as Paul suggests in a logical manner some hours later. It was then very apparent the receiver was causing the issues, the BCU was doing what it was meant to do.
Just a thought. Jerry

Thanks Jerry
I have considered the receiver unit but I figured that seeing the immobilisation occurs instantly when I remove the key from the ignition, close the driver's door and then open and close the tailgate WITHOUT using the key FOB transmitter, then the roof receiver wasn't being accessed.
However without seeing the logic circuit flow diagrams I can't be sure.
Did you replace the receiver? If so did it fix it?
Sounds like a messy job removing and replacing the headlining. I'd rather not start that process until I'm more sure it's the culprit.

Receiver Replacement
I'm stating to think that either my Keyless Receiver has a fault or it's the BCU. Although the logic escapes me I have a hunch to try replacing the Receiver first. I understand there are two frequencies for the keys and receivers - I don't know what mine is likely to be without pulling down the rear head lining. If anyone knows which frequency it's likely to be for a Year 2000 TD5 in Australia let me know. If not I'll have to scan for both frequencies.
I saw some used Receivers on EBay and unfortunately they're all in USA and all seem to have a different Part No. or several Part Nos.
Are the Receivers on Australian Discoveries different to those of other countries.
If you know of an Australian source, please let me know.
I see where others have installed these in less than an hour - the way I work that would be a full day.
I realise this might not fix my problem but I need to get to the cause and start eliminating likely causes.
Thanks for any help.

Vin No
I understand that key frequencies changed according to VIN.
My VIN is SALLTGM97!A291578. Anyone sue of what the key frequency is likely to be.
The car is not here with the key right now so I can't scan it.
Be grateful for any info.

Hi,
The receiver is one of the easier things to do on a D2 if you have a rear sun roof, very easy to access.
If you have RAVE it's explained on page 86-4-28 under "Alarms and Horn".
All the info you need including model number is on the receiver itself. Mine was 433mhz but that's on a 2000 UK car and whilst Australian models switched to 433, there was a period of time when the earlier models were using a different frequency (Apparently changed again around the time of the face lift 2002).
I bought brand new from the UK, I looked at e bay but you don't know if they are working or not (bought the car on e bay!!!)
Shop around, LR outlets sell for over a hundred quid, but the part is the same as in MG Z Rover 75'S and MG places sell new for around 35 quid, $60au.
Make sure you get your MHz correct.
Cheers, Jerry

Tony,
seeing you now have a nanocom & a copy of your current settings why don't you try to disable all the alarm & immobilizer settings & see if you still have a problem.
If the problem has gone, re-enable the settings one at a time, & go from there.
It won't cost anything but a bit of time..

Thanks Rover V8.
That's just what I intend doing. I disabled or changed as follows today:
Alarm disarm set to: Always
Super lock set to : Disable
Alarm Option set to: Disable
Alarm Sounder to: BBS
Passive Immobile: Disable
Wasn't brave enough to do a full trial as I needed to go out and really get back home without being stranded. I had to leave the old girl parked with the key left in Accessory position everywhere I went, as has been the case for a few weeks now.
I'll start the slow rebuild to original settings tomorrow night.
Thanks for the response.
