    TD5 Crank Angle Sensor

When the Crank Angle sensor has failed will it send out an error code? or will it error code prior to failure?

Mine constantly returns "noisy crank signal detected"
I replaced it,still get the fault,no running issues.
I always carry a crank sensor in the vehicle.

I did RAC breakdown for awhile in the UK and what I did notice is if your crank sensor was on the way out you'd normally get a warning. It would be when the cars hot the engine would cut out then restart after 10 minutes, this is the time to change it as if your lucky you'll get this warning once or twice. The easiest way to diagnose a crank sensor is to see if your getting RPM signal as sometimes the ECU hasn't got time to log a code before it packs in.
