there might have been an intermittent interruption on the CAN datalink between the ECM and EAT ECU ... there could be many reasons, oil ingress in the ECM red plug is one of them(is yours clean?)... give contact spray in the red plug, go for a ride then read codes again... or did you have low battery at a moment?

thanks for the replies. The red connector I cleaned last week and the battery is new. Today I researched more about the code 1884 and found several references on other forums to selector automatic transmission that is sometimes soaked through the drain from the a / c. I had this installed a flexible drain pipe to divert the drops but last week this tube came off and the drops were watering the selector. then installed a tube again and deleted the error. let's see if that was the cause. I also remembered that exactly 1 year ago I posted a list of error codes in the "LIST OF FAULT CODES" where there is a diagram explaining the structure of the codes. Follow the diagram here. The code 1884 and its variables refer to the automatic transmission. this code list 1884 accuses only the following symptom: "P1884 Engine Coolant Level Lamp Circuit Short to Ground". IMO what you get there is generic OBDII code description or specific for some other car cos for D2 here are the descriptions... you need to read the code with a dedicated tester not generic one and you'll get one of the codes from the list,
also you can corroborate the code with what warnings you've got cos for some it's only MIL without M+S

Sierrafery / Grappler, excuse the lack of attention. had not read the above post. Now yes, I understand. there are sub codes 1884 but I have to admit I'm out of luck because I'm in an area without specialized workshop. The nearest town with specialist workshop is 1500 km away. I shall expect an opportunity to do so. Thanks for your help.
P usually indicates to transmission related problem. I guess you may need a scanner that reads CAN system transmission. I don't know much about the code, but I have found an answer of P1884 meaning in another forum, hope it is helpful:
Thats a CAN buss message from the ecu. Can mean many things, will have to read at dealer or advanced scanner to see the underlying problem and clear it. Here are some of them:

Sierrafery, the lamps not lighted during the two times that the failure occurred. They should always automatically illuminate during the flaw? is there any procedure manual so that they lamps on and facilitate the diagnosis?
did you miss post #5? ... are your M+S warnings working on ignition self test?...if not and you played around with nanocom check the setting in BCU to not be on manual transmissioncos nanocom used to have a mind of it's own connected to BCU from time to time
