D2a td5 auto requests for faults cleared.

Hi I have a2003 TD5 Auto discovery that I would like to have all faults in the ecu cleared.

If anyone is local to the gold coast and would like to earn a carton of beer please let me know.

Alternatively I may just have to purchase a nanocom to suit my application.
But would prefer to know that the car is OK before I spend that sort of $$$.

    Cheers

Ok so I ordered the Nanocom and it should arrive sometime this week.
Once I get the hang of it, I'll hopefully be able to help others out when they are in a position such as myself.

    Cheers

Hi Grimace. How do you find the nanocom. I've also got a 03 td5 disco auto. I've got not warning lights but I wanted to bleed the brakes and program a spare key. So I was looking into buying a nanocom. Where did you get it from and how much cash did you have to splash ?

    Hi Billt,

It seems very capable, but all I have done is programmed my two unlock codes and read the auto trans fault.

Which is - Solenoid Valve lock up converter!???

Unfortunately I have been away since receiving the unit so have not got to play around with it more.

I also plan to program a second and maybe third key myself but have not ordered the blanks yet.

I definitely like having full time access to a diagnostics tool.

As for cost, the unit was just over $400 AUS delivered from Blackbox Solutions but unfortunately they no longer provide the 10% AULRO discount.

I don't know about the procedure for bleeding the brakes yet, nor the requirement for the nanocom? But if I have the key programming worked out by the time you are ready to I am happy to do that for you.

    Cheers

    Hi Grimace,
Oh cheers for that. Black box solutions from cyprus through their own website seems the go. Theres been a couple on ebay for just under $500 but theyre only $402 plus delivery new. I just rego'd the car so the nanocom will have to wait as ive still got no fault lights. I just have to be careful not to loose the key.
Did you work out what the fault means for the gearbox. I read that the gearbox learns from your driving style when to change upgears and you can reset that through the nanocom to default. I wonder whether its always learning and will pick up a new style of driving anyway.
    Cheers Billt

    Hey Billt,

Yeah I got mine direct from BBS.

I did see that it was possible to clear the transmission to default and will do this once I get it sorted.

    I have really done nothing on this over the last few weeks, I have the fault code and it is;
P0743 - Solenoid valve lockup clutch monitoring (S/C to Ground or O/C)

Not sure how to go about fixing this just yet.

Hi grimace, I'm new to these gear boxes. But google tells me this. A longer description of the fault is this.

P0743 (7, 25) * Torque converter lock-up solenoid (MV 3), open or short circuit Limp home mode in low and high ranges. Shift pressure to maximum, harsh gear shifts/engagement.

This is a link to a workshop Manual for the gear box. Page 35 is for the lock up solenoid. It might just be a dirty electrical connection causing the open circuit or bad earth. Try cleaning the plugs

    Cheers Billt.

Thanks Billt, I did get a chance to have a quick look under the vehicle again today and found the second loom that enters into the transmission. But I could not figure out how to disconnect it. Not wanting to destroy anything I thought I'd ask here first.
The outer part of the connector seems to slide in and out part way but the plug and the wires stay put? I don't think this is normal?
    Connector in question;

I also found these two connector resting a bit further up the loom. Not connected to anything?

Hopefully figuring out the removal of the above and giving it a good clean will fix my issue! Finger crossed.

Ok bit more research I think I will ignore the two single connectors.

Got the valve body connector removed, there was evidence of oil there and its loose fitting, have cleaned it and refit, fault still present.

Will remove the valve body this weekend after checking continuity at the connector (assuming i can figure out which wires is which.
