2010 Defender
Hi, everyone, my name is Rafael, I am in Cabo San Lucas. I have a 2010 Defender 110 that was flipped by an Australian tourist. Seems this happened about 3 yrs ago. I initially saw it 2+ yrs ago but didn't realize it was a Def...then I saw it again and I looked at it for a friend. He wasn't interested because he's in U.S.A and can't own it, as I'm sure that most members know. Long story short, I bought it. Decided that starting a thread in the Australian Land Rover Owners Website in hopes of of getting some info and hopefully some insight into where to get keys (if possible) made, can I get get rid of the electronics and circumvent the FOB key issue. I'd like to keep the whole thing but body isn't salvageable, and if it was I still can't import. Keeping engine, tranny, t-case and axles is doable. I'm swapping drivetrain into CJ-7 Jeep that is imported and legit. We are stretching the frame for 4 doors to get 110' WB. I am also trying to track the original Aussie owner in hopes of a spare key that would make all these issues manageable. I undestand that I can reflash the computer to circumvent the TCU and get a new ignition. Is this possible or should I order a new key, if that is possible?? I have posted in the defender source website but haven't had any pointers there. I think part of the problem is that they can't own a 2010 there. Thx again!

I guess the engine is a TDCi?? The wires coming out of the ECU (firewall, directly behind the engine) were cut about 3-4 inches away from the computer by starving copper thieves.... it's 2 sets and each is about 10-12 leads. There is a female 10 pin (standing over engine) socket that isn't connected about 12 inches to the right of the ECU and a battery lead with 2 much thinner wires cut in the front of engine under general area of where the fuel rail starts. Also missing a sensor (The Defender is not with me, it's in a shop) that directly plugs into front of fuel rail or directly underneath it. I guess a wiring diagram would come in handy?? LOL My guys at the shop are very savvy and handy BUT LR Defenders are not common here. They are excited about the swap because we are Offroad racers and this is gonna be a unique vehicle!!
