Blackbox solutions Software for MY2012 Def 2.2

Ive posted on BBS forum but will probably get a prompt reply here

Do they have software available for MY2012 Def 2.2 that works properly. A search of the BBS forum indicates the software is problematic for 2.2 having not been developed past the 2.4. BBS claim the ECUs are the same?

Im considering expanding Faultmate MSV2 software module to use on this Defender. I use the MSV2 with a RRS software module

I have an Ultragauge fitted to the defender and it works fine. Am i wasting the $240 for the MSV2 upgrade and will it do anything more than the Ultragauge?

Yes they do. I have a 2012 defer and had great problems with the nanocom.
It sat around for nearly two years, sent back twice before they realised that it was a canbus system and different ABS system. They have been developing downloads over several upgrades for that model. I think there is a later update that has been developed lately. I have not tried mine recently nor downloaded the latest version but as far as I am concerned the jury is still out as when I try to read faults, it tell me there are too many to read. I know this is wrong but the latest upgrade may have solved this.

    Hiya Lindsay.
I appreciate that this post is a couple of months old, but I was away for a while and better late than never to answer the points raised by Grappler and yourself

When BBS took over the Nanocom, it already had coverage of the "Puma Defender" which was pretty much the CAN BUS based Engine Management System (EMS) and Instrument Pack.
The faultmate MSV-2 also covered these at that time.

Then LR changed the EMS type along with a 2.4 to 2.2 litre engine change and also changed the origional ABS system to a CAN BUS version.

As CAN BUS communications is supposed to be a standard, the EMS change should not have caused any problem, which it did not for the MSV-2, and we also quickly added support on the MSV-2 for the ABS system. So the MSV-2 is and has always not had a problem.

However as Lindsay helped us figure out, although we initially expected the same would be the case with the Nanocom, the Nanocom software was not so generically written and had some issues with the 2.2 EMS.

At that time, we were already developing new, forward thinking and very powerful functionality based coverage for the new generation CAN BUS based vehicles, that we could then apply to both the 2.4 and 2.2 Puma Defenders and although it would be some time before this was finished, it made better long term sense.

I promised Lindsay that as soon as the new CAN BUS coverage was complete that we would then use it it sort out the Puma Defender and I do not make and give promises lightly.

So sure enough, after a long patience testing wait, we added coverage of all CAN BUS modules that are present in the Puma Defender, including the ABS into our new much more advanced CAN BUS software and scrapped all the previous stuff.

One of the many advanced features we included in our new CAN BUS software is to give the ability to read both "Tested" and "Non Tested" Faults.

From what you write, it does seem that you are errantly reading "Not Tested" faults imediately after clearing the fault memory.

Only the "Tested" Faults are of use and note in the normal understanding of Fault codes
