I think your ecu questions would be better asked on a UK site as they no doubt would have info on the transit ecu.
I am still doing my researching on my Defender. Its a 2010 defender, I believe the 2.4 TDCi ??? Its going in for the swap in 2 weeks,200 mile drive to pickup, then 700 mile drive to shop then work to start the swap.... i am attaching 2-3 pics here in this post, Hopefully they attach. Thx Again
Need info regarding the following:
---- I have a NO KEYS and I am in Mexico. I am being told I can circumvent the Anti Theft Part of the ECU and use any switch to power up. Does anyone know anything about this??
---- Is the Dashboard friendly for left hand drive for Mexico or am I stuck with deciding to leave the R Hand drive or get rid of the dash altogether?? I live in a very hot area in the summer and keeping the A/C and the dash to go with ECU would be nice (haven't measured IF it fits into my CJ)
---- ECU has Cut Wires and the copper thieves left only 3-4 inches so a wiring diagram for the DURATORQ 2.4 would be handy. I have a diagram sent to me by Grappler but it's in Italian and I need to make sure the 2.2 ECU is compatible with the 2.4 for the wiring diagram I have?? Pls keep in mind I am in Mexico, labour is cheaper but I am relying on my people's savvy and help from the forums like this to get going!!
---- Another question I have is if Will a Transit Van ECU fit???
---- I May not use the axles for various reasons one is the lug pattern limits my ability to upgrade and or change wheels. Not a common lug pattern here. Another is the Full Time T-case, I would rather use something more user (finding parts) friendly here.
---- How much are axles and t case worth?? I can transport into the US San Diego area, time allowing. I am 900 Baja miles south of the border but get up there often.
---- Does anybody have any info on the key situation?? CAN I reflash the computer and bypass the Theft Unit to use a different switch or do I have to get a key online and do the deposit for the programmer so I can plug into a port I COULDN'T find in the car?? Its supposed to be between the front seats but no dice.
Sorry about the million question but getting close to transport time and I haven't put a lot of info together yet.
Please understand that although I would like to keep the vehicle together, import laws don't allow me to. I can put parts into my Jeep because its old for anybody to care and It's been imported into the country since 96-97. The cost of repairs for the Land Rover and the fact that I still couldn't drive it makes that option impossible.
