Q So Evo, unless it works for the D2 v8, presumably you don't have a D2, which was the subject of the original question/s in the thread?

Gavin, the reason for the difference is European diesel cars did not have to be OBD2 compliant until after 2004. Petrol's on the other hand had to be compliant from about 2001. Hence the functionality on the V8 but not the Td5.

ok, so is the reason that the scan guage 11 is non compliant with the D2 td5, the fact that it is not a compliant OBD2 port?

    is that it?

if so I need to find a similar functioning digital guage thats is compliant with the D2 td5 OBD2 port?

does anyone know of such an item?

what are other D2 td5 owners using?

I think the nearest thing you'll find is the Nanocom Evolution II running in Instrument Mode. That's what I'm running.

Instrument mode (set to be the default power up mode) shows me ...

Screen 1 (this is the default displated screen)
Engine Speed - Road Speed - Coolant temp - Turbo Pressure ? Battery Volt.

    Screen 2
Ambient Pressure - Air Flow - Air Inlet Temp. - Fuel Temp.

    Screen 3
    Cyl. Balance 1 ? 5,

    Screen 4
    Accel. Track 1 - Accel. Track 2 - Accel. Track 3, - Accel. Supply

    Screen 5
Idle Speed error - EGR Inlet - EGR mod. - Wastegate

There is also a Setup option which allows you to set up a Coolant warning and set the Tyre coefficient.

... works the same for the Defender Td5 too.

We tried my Scan Gauge II on a fellow member's BMW diesel-powered P38A and it didn't work.
