Returning nanocom for repair- $130 shipping

After a bit of to-and-fro on their tech forum, I have been advised to return my nanocom to BBS in Cyprus for repair. They will only accept shipping by DHL for returns. I have just gone through the DHL online booking form and they come up with a price of $130.54 to move a 650 gram parcel to Cyprus. This seems exorbitant to me, wondering what others have found in this situation. Is it cheaper if I open an account with DHL? I assume I'll be paying freight to get the thing back also, there are much better ways I can think of to spend $260.

    Wow!

I got caught the same way about 20 years ago for some Hillman Hunter parts I was asked to buy and ship to the UK for a rally car. However, in that case, the buyer was paying. It was enough that I've never used them since.

Why not PM Colin explain the costing and ask if you can use another method?

If its still under warranty BBS used to reimburse shipping, unless they have changed their return policy....

Returning nanocom for repair- $130 shipping

Having just gong through this: $27 to Cyprus via AusPost registered mail; $70 return by Nanocom via DHL. In the latter you have no choice. It seems Nanocom's aren't as reliable as they are made out. I still don't know why mine buggered up. Oh, about $43 for the actual repair, which is reasonable I suppose.

I did the same as biggin when my Faultmate locked-up during a s/w update, after going to the trouble of getting to a DHL office in Melbourne only to discover the exorbitant charges.

Did you have any trouble getting them to accept shipment by Aus Post? All the documentation from BBS is quite insistent that only DHS is to be used, which is all well and good if you are not paying for it. The device is about 14 months old so I am not expecting them to stand behind it as a warranty claim, would be nice to be pleasantly surprised but I won't bank on it.
I will get in touch with them and see what they say.

I assume everyone is talking about DHL Express ( there are 5 different DHL divisions not all provide package services and not all operate in all territory's) Express differentiate themselves from the competition (FedEx, UPS etc) by charging a 15% premium on the bases you can track your parcel anywhere. Guaranteed update within 15 mins of passing a scanner. My experience is they are no better than their cheaper competition, the updates are inaccurate or misleading but they do service countries or parts of countries where the competition may have no agencies. Maybe not the case here though :-)
