    Cancel that , just tried again now doesn't matter how much I jiggle the wired pin 7 fails
    and when I say jiggle it only moves about a mm or 2

    Hi, first of all measure voltage across pin 16 and both pins 4 and 5 to make sure both earths are good, if that's ruled out the next logical move would be to test continuity between pin 7 and header C0286 where the link splits between the socket and all ECUs, this header is hidden in the loom so you'll have to remove that black insulation to reach it and concentrate to identify it well cos there are others too near it, it's the one with many pink wires, all of them must comunicate with pin 7 on the socket while the connector is plugged and unplugged it should be pin 15 or 16 depends on the modell
