What model ECU?
Right, I want to download a engine management file from my TD5 to send to TD5 Inside.
Nanocom has a SD card in it, it has been deep formatted to clean up anything on it (quick format didn't work).
It has been reformatted through the Blackbox file.
Nanacom plugged in, Choose "Discovery II", then "TD5", then "TD5 MAP", then "read map from ECU".
Black page says "WORKING",
ERROR: "Unable to perform the function"
I thought I was following directions but??????????????????
Any suggestions apart from a can of petrol and a match!
Thanks
Mike
What model ECU?
+1 for Tombie's question.... cos if it's MSB it will not work, if it's NNN make sure the battery is strong and keeps a steady voltage or better hook a charger to it while working
Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned
haven't used the nanacom unit, but lots of these things are a bit fussy about SD card size and type, so it might be worth trying an old smaller card. From memory lots of things only supported up to 2gb size.
You haven't slid the data protection slide on the SD card by any chance?

Thank you one and all, all the suggestions could have been right but were not.
Terminology got me, along with my head.
The instructions were to put the key (ignition) to position two (II if I am to be honest). Now, you insert the key, that's position one, you turn it to accessories, that's position two but it is not position II.
If the instructions had been turn the ignition on but do not start the engine I wouldn't have had a problem.
Durr
Happy now

Your terminology is off
Key in is Pos 0..... accessories 1 etc
And on the ignition itself...

ah well, at least you won't burn it now....
First you have to be able to get down low enough to look at the lock, second, if you use my counting I was right.
O = nothing so I put the key in at position one.
It does not matter how much you argue or whether you are right (which you are) my LOGIC remains the same.
?
Cheers

No argument.
I'll put it this was as an analogy - see if you agree..
I ask you to step 2 steps out of your car...
That is 2 steps from the starting point. Not step 1 opening the door and step 2 the first step from the opening.
The key isn't the starting point. The ignition is.
The key, if you like, is the tool to turn the lock.
Glad you got the system sorted.
