dont buy a britpart "lynx" diagnostics tool
Recovery Logic 4
Local parts distributor has just announced a new diagnostic tool (dongle plus app) that they say would be better than any of the existing.....
Details: DA1500 | Lynx Evo Diagnostics Tool | Diagnostics | Britpart
Looks like it will cost about $600 (inc gst), and going by the info on the Britpart site it looks pretty powerful (and useful).
One attractive part is that it works for any vehicle of the type .. ie you load for one of: Freelander or Discovery or Range Rover or Defender etc and it will work for any vehicle of that type as is not VIN locked etc. eg. the Discovery type will work with any D1,2,3 or 4.
I have been holding off getting a GAP or Hawkeye etc, awaiting this device. ( I have a 2002 TD6 L322, and my son has a D2 ... so I may be up for 2!)
The coverage chart: http://www.britpart.com/downloads/lynx_evo_coverage.pdf
certainly sounds impressive:
> Read fault codes
> Clear fault codes
> Read & display live data
> Test actuators
> Special functions - see coverage chart
> Programming - such as alarm settings, key fobs etc. on selected models
> Service reset
Will it do like an Autologic? or is the GAP IID tool still all I need?
I'd appreciate feedback on its claims from users of other diagnostic devices.
Thanks

Get the Gap or a Nanocom
I would not touch it with a 10 foot pole. The after sales service i had from Brit-part was shocking. I had the "lynx" unit.
Long story short, britpart knew from the start that the lynx unit did not do all the functions it said it would do, but they sold the stock to vendors anyway. Whenever i returned it for repairs, they just held the unit and played the waiting game, i guess they were hoping i would not ask for the unit back. It then took several months to get my money.
Even if this new unit is the ducks nuts, if anything goes wrong you are screwed.
Nanocom is what i bought with my refund.

Yes John.. The GAP tool is more than a match for the Autologic system![]()
True. However, you'll need to do better than that. My comment was directed at the BritPart diagnostics device vs Autologic, which was part of the OPs question . The GAP device, once you have optioned it up and unlocked all the VINs etc is about the same money as the AutoLogic. Neither tool is a fair comparison with, say, a nanocom, given most of us want something we can take with us to deal with issues that we have no hope of dealing with otherwise.
In a perfect world, I'd have TestBook.

I keep telling you guys Britpart is not a manufacturer of parts they are a parts distributer, many years ago they had the distribution of GAP IID Tool, they lost that , on your logic the previous Gap tool must have been crap also as it came britpart distributed.
As for this new tool, I did some basic enquiries and it is not that flash, but haven't used one.
You are missing something, Mario. I never compared this tool with the Autologic, or the Hawkeye, or the GAP, or the Nanocom. I don't care what BritPart did before. I suggest they may have lost GAP for a reason.
It's not MY logic you need to question.
DieSchnelleKafer has a very good point re BritPart's after sales service.

Has anyone used the Logic 4 utility?
I was quoted $473 which is considerably cheaper than a IIDTool BT.
They said the functionality is the same and was developed by the same people.
I'm looking for a utility that can diagnose error codes and to make adjustments to suspension height on my D4.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
