EGR Fault Code P0403-1B logged even with EGR switched off with BAS remap!
EGR Fault Code P0403-1B logged even with EGR switched off with BAS remap.
In trying to sort out an almost daily loss of turbo boost I am experiencing with my 2008 Puma.
I recently have been checking for fault codes and I find I get one that is to do with the turbo (P2562-34) but I am also getting a fault code (P0403-1b ) that is to do with the EGR even though my BAS remap has shut it off!!
I spoke to the guy who did the remap some years ago, and his response is to install a blanking plate because the EGR may be leaking. I'm a bit confused because I can't see how my EGR would suddenly start leaking when it has been electronically turned off for years now.
Can some one explain what might be happening, and is it possible that this EGR fault code could relate to intermittent loss of turbo boost?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

The way Pete explained it to me when I did mine, was that when the EGR is "deleted" with his remap, the ECU no longer looks for the valve, hence no MIL. But if the valve is faulty, ie; not completely closed, when its deleted then it can still cause issues. So he strongly recommended to physicaly blank the EGR. If the EGR was working fine when it was shut off then you probably won't need to blank it..........mine was fine, but I still blanked it.
Give Pete a call, I swear the man never sleeps, he'll be able to explain it way better than me, as it's been nearly 3 years since I remapped mine, the memory's a bit hazy.
