hawkeye to buy or not to buy

hawkeye to buy or not to buy
    i have a icarsoft i930
i have a fault on the air suspension, it says CAN bus fault
what that means i have no idea
i have an hawkeye set up for a defender
to up grade it to a RR, its about the same price as a buying a new one
the new hawkeye BA5068 covers most if not all land rovers except for the latest ones
the BA5068 can be bought off Ebay for less than $700
the GAP IID BT, which is highly recommended on this site buy some members, can be bought for about the same money

so, as the hawkeye covers most land rovers, while the GAP tool is vin locked, i think the hawkeye is the better deal
but is the hawkeye as good as the GAP tool
    dose any one know
after spending $700 on which ever, will i get the same result i am getting from my icarsoft, CAN bus fault
    thanks
this is also no an other forum

And check if the new RovaCom IQ just released from BBS (Nanocom) will do your job as well - should be on intro special about/under $500 at the moment?
There is a lot of info on their site that we potential users are still coming to terms with.
check links if in the directories starting with

I have a Hawkeye for my D3 and its done everything i have needed it for , but it has limitations.

The screen is very small so you dont get a lot of info without having to scroll , thats fine if your stationary and doing fault finding stuff but its not very good when driving and trying to read live data.

Like many that are not BT , you need to have the thing plugged in which is just above the pedals with a cable trying to be run out of the way.

Mine is only model specific , you need different plugs for differents models = ie D2.

I have had mine for about 6 yrs and if i had the option again I would go for a BT model code reader that you can mount on the dash or similar and read the info as you drive. I like both the IID Tool and the rovacom for this reason.

I wont be replacing the hawkeye purely because I cant justify 2 code readers but I think there are better options .

    Cheers Ean
