If you buy the iid (GAP) bluetooth version, you can use it via an app on your smartphone.
I also have the Faultmate extreme, but much prefer the simplicity of the iid tool to check the various systems on my L322.
Hope that helps.
Merry Christmas

Hi all,
Looking to buy a decent diagnostic tool for my D4 in the new year.
I am looking for feedback re Gap II vs Nanocom Vs anything else.
I am aware one downside of the GAP II is its lack of stand alone functionality and for most work will require a laptop or a tablet.
Keen to here pros and cons of both.
Cheers

I have the non-BT GAP IID but I prefer to use my Faultmate - I can do more with it. I also have a T4 (Testbook).

Hi
I have the Rovacom IQ from Blackbox Solutions for my D4. It uses an Android App. Advantages for me is that one gets a decent screen size (7 inch on my Samsung) for all of the real-time data values and diagnostics.
I think what you probably want to eventually build up is a table of features for each model with a yes or no on what feature is supported. That info, if kept up-to-date as a table, would be a valuable thread here.

I suppose the main issue I have is with Gap ID tool you need a tablet to display a lot, but can upload fuel maps and do the EGR blanking.
The Nanocom has a stand alone screen, so you could mount and use permanently. I also believe you can upload fuel maps but from wherebut not sure if it can do the EGR blanking. Downside is previous Nanocom I have has had intermittent problems for years (for TD5) and never really lived up to expectations eg on instrument mode continually turns off and then wont connect (yes earth modification has been done).
Cheers

I use the gap app on phone and 7" tablet, both show more than you are likely to need . Budget would be the decider for me, got mine off a member for a couple of hundred less than new.
