So I bought a OBD2 plug off ebay for $7. I cut up an old network cable and hazzah.
It worked exactly like the factory one.
So I pulled the unit apart and fondled it. Put it back together and now it works. I guess must be a dry joint...![]()
I've got a gen 1 nanocom - the little grey box one for my defender td5. I've been using it forever - principally as a digital dash but I've occasionally cleared faults with it. I don't use it that much but i do like carrying it with me when I go away.
Anyway on the last trip one day it just stopped working as a digital dash. The little light stopped flickering whenever it starts.. it just says on the screen "Push a key or connect me.....". And that's it. If you touch the buttons it kinda works but it doesn't seem to be talking to the computer.
If I had a bet I'd say it might be the cable which suffered some trauma when I loaned it out one time. Nanocom sell a replacement which is $77.. but I wouldn't think I'd get much change out of 100 by the time it got here. I'm a bit concerned that I could get a new cable and it turns out the unit itself is dead.
Has anyone seen this before on one of these units?
