Intermittent engine fault codes; new harness required?
Hi brains trust;
My 2004 Disco TD5 has just begun playing up and I have a feeling I may need to replace the engine harness. Last week my beloved borrowed it and experienced the engine just cutting out in town on her way to work. After pulling over and switching off it immediately restarted no problems; after work she drove it home with no issues and finally spotted the MIL was on. When I hooked up the Nanocom I got an error message “Air Intake Temperature Circuit” or similar; like an idiot I didn’t record the exact code. Fault cleared, no issues. Then I experienced the same thing the other day; coasting on Cruise Control at a steady 100 down the highway it just died and the MIL came on. Fortunately I still had the Nanocom with me and got the same code; and again like an idiot I didn’t record the exact code… reset fault, start engine, carry on.
So this morning again going down the highway and the engine suddenly judders two or three times and the MIL came on, but this time it kept running. When I plugged in the code read “(15,2) HIGH SPEED CRANK (LOGGED)”
So… two seemingly separate fault codes… any ideas on where I start looking? I did check the harness between the intake temp sensor and to where it runs along the front of the engine and there were no obvious issues like the cables rubbing through. Should I start to look at replacing the engine harness?
Thanks in advance!
