What GAP Tool for RRS L494?

Hi. We have a 2015 RRS which we plan on taking for a lap of Australia in two months time. Someone suggested that I take a GAP tool with me in case i get into trouble in a more remote part of Australia, and so i'm wondering which one to get.

I should point out that im not mechanically minded or technical whatsoever. I intend to take out top roadside assistance so i can get to a mechanic, and wondering whether this tool will still come in handy and might save us from being stranded somewhere (ie, will it still be of benefit the mechanic in fixing my car), or do i still need to work out how to use it before anything happens?

Then there is the question of tool. Should i get the more expensive IIDTool BT G3...or would a cheaper TF930 iCarSoft do the job (says it has been preprogrammed for LR vehicles)?

    Any advice appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Chris

Gap tool does so much more than any other non dealer diagnostic tool. It could be the difference between a local mechanic being able to diagnose a problem or a long truck ride to a dealership.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

I have the IID tool and its usefull when you need it.. I was monitoring temps there for a while, any real issues will show up on the dash anyway but the gap tool lets you clear them, which is the first step to seeing how severe the issue is..
I'd fix the gear selector button before you go.. fit a new battery and new tyres, get it serviced, (land Rover Mech's are a dime a dozen in NT...) and figure out how to change a tyre on these things,

Gap is the manufacturer of the IID diagnostic tool, what you meant to ask is which diagnostic tool should I get.
There are other cheaper and less functional diagnostic tools around but the Gap tool is by far the most feature packed.
In saying that if you only wanted something for basic functions, don't travel remote or don't do your own servicing/repairs then a cheaper unit may be ok for you.
