    GAP IID Bluetooth Gen 4

Friends, I've just purchased a GAP IID tool Gen 4 (the latest) to use with my 2010 D4 2.7.
Can I use it tethered to a laptop, and not use the Bluetooth function? It seems my phone is too old to support BT version 4.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Possibly.

My old non-BT GAP IID Tool has a mini-USB socket which I use to connect it to my laptop when needs be (usually, I just use the Message Centre on the dash instead of my laptop).

I haven't tried my BT IID Tool connected to the laptop.

The USB port is only for firmware updates, i dont think there is a windows or IOS program to use it with.

There definitely is on my non-BT Tool, I’ve used it. I’ll try it with my BT Tool.

You could simply email the GAP Team, their response will be quick and accurate.

    I'm not sure about quick.

I'll charge my notebook and test it.

I've found the time difference between Canada and Australia to be the only delay.
The company is one of the most efficient and helpful, I've ever dealt with.

Well, my tests this morning were inconclusive.

My old GAP Tool works with a USB cable to the PC.

My later BT GAP Tool isn't detected when I plug the USB cable into my PC. But it isn't being detected on my phone's BT, either. I'm not sure if it's faulty. It used to work with my old phone.

It still works with the Message Centre and steering wheel buttons.

    More investigation required.
