    Post Help Fremantle/Perth - Activate/Connecting updated IIDGapTool G3 BT to L319-16

    I give up.

I have upgraded my IID GapTool from G2 BT to G3 BT via the manufacturer and which is confirmed by Patrick in Canada as registered, but I cannot get it to activate. I'm still at the G3 connected to laptop stage, and obviously unable to start any to car connections (MY16 D4).

Is there anyone local who would be prepared to help? I can either come to you or you to me in Fremantle - there will of course be the appropriate recompense.

I'm OK at basics but not the finer points and the manual was written by experts and I suspect not run past numpties like me to ensure we know and understand what is being talked about.

    Hi Gavin,

    From memory.....

I think the dongle (gap tool) needs to be plugged into the car, then the IID software on your phone needs to be started and connected via Bluetooth to the dongle, the phone will then connect to the internet and activate the tool.
So you also need to be in phone service.

But I could be wrong with all of that!

Thanks Shack - knowledgeable as ever.

Just found a GAP article (not from the manual) explaining the next step from a heading "4.2App, Activation using the mobile App" but will still be in need of assistance.
