Gday Pedro - I just posted about this unit under "Electronic Diagnostics". Its a great bit of kit.
My D2 was stalling when cold on changover from petrol to LPG. Once the system had gone warm - closed loop it seems - it was then OK. I stuck on the guage cleared the 02 sensor fault code (from when I changed them ages ago) and sure enough it now changes to LPG and runs nicely again when cold and in open loop before warm up...the LPG takes its reading off the 02 sensor!
It gives you exact temp of water. I posted about that too.
Cheers
Do a search, cos there is a fair bit on this site abt the ScanGaugeII. I have had one for a few years now for my D2 V8 and I reckon it's great.
Just be aware though that while the ScanGauge can give a far more accurate reading for coolant than the D2's needle gauge, it is still reading from the same sensor/sender, so if the sensor is in an air pocket cos the cooling system is losing fluid, the ScanGauge may show a cooler reading (I am guessing, I have never been in this position, thankfully) so won't necessarily be a great help.
I went to Wooders Garage yesterday and tested a Scan Gauge on my Freelander - despite all the research indicating that it works - it in fact does not.
Can also confirm it does not work on a TD5 but works on the 4 litre V8 D2.
For your information.

Well, i just tried out my new Scan gauge unit and immediately ran up against "unknown codes". namely PO 154, PO 134. They don't show up anywhere on the net. Any ideas? Its for the Disco, v8 4litre.
Should i clear them and start again perhaps?:(:(
can I ask, can the scangauge clear the three amigos lights??
Not sure about the unknown codes though, but somebody ought to be able to help you out there.
From some very quick googling, P = powertrain, 0 = generic between all manufacturers, then the actual 3 digit code - the first digit in your case (1) refers to it being Emission Management (Fuel or Air), then the 2nd and 3rd digits are the specific ones...
from OBD-II Check Engine Light Trouble Codes I found in your case:
P0 134 - P0134 02 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected (Bank I Sensor 1)
P0 154 - P0154 02 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
So basically a problem with a sensor on both banks? The first one is a clickable link that explains it a bit better.'
Hope it helps!
Hi phoenix,
Funny you should ask...just had the 3 amigos pop up. Normally I clear them by stopping the car and restarting. This time I tried to clear using Scangauge II whilst driving ....didn't work!! Turning off and restarting did though.
Hi Sean087
Thanks for that...I'll check it out. It might be looking for the non-existent rear sensors. (US only , I believe) . I googled around and didn't find it ...well done.:)
Onwards....
Does Scangauge2 work on a D3?
Does anybody use it on a D3?
For those that don't know, it is like a little trip computer that gives all the stuff a trip computer does + real time temperatures (air intake, cooling system) volts, fuel consumption in K's & hours, and a heap of other stuff. It plugs in to the "OB" something plug.
It also keeps a memory of trip data so it can be recorded at the end of a trip or the next day. It is supposed to recorded error codes & allow you to clear them though I have never tried this.
I have one in the Pathie & was going to transfer it to the D (when it gets here) but there isn't much point if it won't work or the D3's trip computer does all that any way.

The Pathies trip computer gives averages not real time readouts.
IIRC, Norto has a Scangauge II.
