    Help with Nanocom Brisbane

I have a Nanocom and it's giving me trouble when I use the pc software. I'm getting "unable to init the ecu"

If anyone in Brisbane can help me rule out the following I'd be grateful!

    1. Software setup.
    2. USB - serial converter.
    3. Nanocom unit itself.

    Thanks!

I think Peter from the club has one for his TD5 disco.

    Give him a call.

Thank you gents! I will follow up these two leads tonight. I am car challenged as the car is on a dealer holiday this week. There are only a couple of weeks till we go away so this is becoming a bit of a priority.

I would say this i almost certainly caused by the serial/usb convertor.

Is it a cheap one? I seem to recall something maybe on the nanocom site with regard to convertor issues.

    Hope this helps.

    It was pretty expensive!

That wouldn't surprise me. That's why I'd love to talk to someone with one. In probably 20 minutes I could find out what the problem is.

I didn't get to looking at this tonight... another night gone.

    Brisbane Nanocom

    Hi Captain

    I have a nanocom working on a td5.

If you want to test your setup (after the long weekend) , I'm in Holland Park.

YAAAY. I think I fixed it!

I had emailed nanocom support and they told me that the error I was getting was between the unit and the ecu. They also said that the obd port was prone to interference.

I relocated my electronic rust preventer pad to try and fix my buzzing am radio (and it fixed it!). I also turned the wireless off on the laptop. When trialing it I tried to keep the yellow cable as far away from the laptop as I could.

Well I had a good session and play with nanocom.exe and I only had one ECU error the whole time. I'm not sure whether it was removing the couplertec unit or turning off the wireless but I'm very happy with that. Thank you to Peter for his generous offer of support.

In other news anyone that thinks those electronic rust preventers are just a box with flashing lights... well I can tell you that if you run an un-shielded line anywhere near your aerial it will completely swamp it to the point where the radio just blanks out! I'm not going to say it's really stopping the rust (although no problems yet) but I can tell you it's definitely doing something!
