    Fault Code Meanings

    Hi, all

    I own a 2000 Discovery TD5 auto.

This morning I had some faults cleared for me.

I am wondering if someone could explain what the following faults actually mean.

1-7 EGR vacuum modulator short circuit (current)
    4-3 coolant temperature circuit (current)
20-4 EGR valve stuck open (logged)
    22-1 road speed missing (logged)
31-1 injector 1 open circuit (logged)
31-2 injector 2 open circuit (logged)
31-3 injector 3 open circuit (logged)
31-5 injector 5 open circuit (logged)

    Thanks in advance.

    Dave

When the faults were cleared, did they run the scan again? The reason I ask is the first two faults will probably re-appear as they are "current" not "Logged" like the rest of them. From my experience, current means there is an issue now. Logged means a fault has happened in the past but not present now.

With regards to the meanings, I'm not exactly sure, however I have been able to create the second fault by removing the plug from the sensor to the air filter box and starting the engine.

    Cheers

I did the code read and clear for David.

Yes I cleared them,, started the car and re read, and they were all gone.

Eidted to add, it has just had teh injector loom replaced due to the oil issue

    Hi Dave,

I had a chat to JustinC earlier and we had a brief discussion about the fault codes on your car.

The 4 injector ones can probably be ignored straight away as they are the errors caused by the oil.

The ones relating to the EGR can also probably be ignored without worry. apparently they are present on most or all Australian td5's

The one that is slightly more concerning is the: 4-3 coolant temperature circuit (current), especially as it says current, but it didnt come back after the clear. May be worth keeping an eye on when you get your Nanocom.

(thanks to Justinc for the info, which I have hopefully transcribed accurately)

    Thanks Peter.

And thanks Justinc for your input.

I'm wondering what might be causing this fault.

4 months I replaced the water pump. To date no change to temp gauge.
2 weeks ago I replaced the pipe from the radiator to the expansion tank(cracked) with a 8mm heater hose as suggested by landrover mechanic (see attached). Again no change to temp gauge.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hi Dave
I wouldnt worry about the EGR ones,I would get rid of the EGR system,it will slowly kill the motor.
Coolant one is one to be concerned about, current means its still happening.I would re-bleed ASAP and check again to see if the fault is still current. You need to remove the header tank and lift to its full height to bleed correctly.
Road speed missing, ignore, its a wheel speed sensor thats had a hickup.
As already mentioned, oil in the harness causes injector fault codes.
    GOODLUCK

    Thanks LandyAndy,
    Have already removed egr piping.

    Bled coolant system this morning.

Went for 350 km drive no movement in temp guage when warm

    jmkoffice. Also thanks.

Memory must be bad. Removed air intake box before peter ran nanocom.
as peter said he rechecked faults after restarting car. None there. So you must have been spot on..

    Thanks All

    Dave.
