    Faultmate MSV-2

    Hi All,
I see that one can buy this unit licenced for either "full capability" or "FCO" (which looks like shorthand for RCFCO - Read and Clear Fault Codes Only).

Would someone please advise me as to the advantages (in the bush) of having the "full capability" licence over the "FCO" licence.

    TIA,
    Peter

    Peter,

With full capability you can get real time info out of the MSV2 I am told. This has some interesting possibilities in conjunction with a PC and display. For example you could display road speed, engine load, revs etc (as per typical OBDII). Also things like the Service interval might be available. I think the SW provided is Vehicle explorer, which will do graphs etc.

If you know something is wrong you can work around the problem, eg. on my old car, a Subaru Forester, I had an Air Fuel Ration gauge, and at the start of a holiday it began playing up. Once I saw what it was doing, I drove around the problem (the Air Flow Meter died, starving the engine of fuel in certain circumstances). When I got back to my mechanic he couldn't believe that we didn't lunch the motor(given the car was fully loaded).

BTW I am not in any way recommending the unit, I am just looking at what it can do, obviously the vendors should be able to give you some info on this as well.

    Cheers,
    AP
