The passenger door is hardly ever used.We had a good look, the hinge bolts were loose, one almost fully out.

    Great quality control there

I saw my first Quartermaster IRL yesterday a black one with bar work on the tub, I think they are called sports bars.

Mate got one. Must say for what it cost you get a pretty damn good vehicle.

He’s just driven it to Townsville Qld from Adelaide and it’s doing everything he wants it to.

Must say, it can get up and move!

Our office guy has a dual cab Great Wall, not bad either.
Even the canopy was half the price of an ARB canopy, colour coded to the vehicle, full internal lining, and unlocks and locks with the vehicle.
It also has a step intergrated into the tailgate for easier access into the rear.

Anyway,it will be interesting to see how it is in 5 or 10 yrs time.
Like i have said before, for private use it maybe fine, but using it for a work vehicle is a completely different application.

10:1 he speaks of a BYD. It's quick and relatively cheap compared to the Ineoss.

    Cheers

Can't speak for anyone else, but I have no problem with the new Defender, Tom, other than the name. I'm a bit of a traditionalist, and to me the New Defender is about as close to what the name "Defender" stood for as a certain Chinese hatchback is to my old MGB. Is the Chinese car better than my old B? Of course it is. Same with the Defender. Do I "want" the Chinese car? Absolutely not. But I miss my old B, warts and breakdowns and all. It's just perception. I'm sure that all the New Defenders I see around are good cars that their owners enjoy. If LR had called it the "Discovery 6"* I doubt the conversation would exist. Do I want one? No. But I don't want a Grenadier either.

PS. I'd love to see your collection one day. New Defender included.

    *They can't, obviously.

I've been asked by classic Defender owners when I tell them I owned one for 17 years why I didn't buy a Grenadier instead of a new Defender.

There are many reasons why I didn't and wouldn't but the first one I offer is that the Grenadier is not a Land Rover!

That probably, for better or worse makes me an enthusiast.

Comparing a new Defender with an MG is not even logical.
    * The new Defender is designed and made by Land Rover.
    * The MG was a company name - sold off to the chinese - and has nothing at all to do with the old car.
    * I'm not sure that the rust proofing on a new MG is any better than the old one... ;-)

LR are still selling more new Defenders that they can make. The stopped making the old one - because it wasn't profitable. Not enough 'traditionalists' were buying the old Defender. If they were - then the new one wouldn't exist. Hence the traditionalists have noone to blame but themselves...

As for my collection - my wife got sick a few years ago and life's focus has changed. Over the last few years I have slowly been downsizing the fleet..
    101 - Sold
    1955 - 86" Sold
    1956 - 107" Sold.
    1960 - Series 2 88" Sold

    1981 - Stage One V8 Wagon Sold
    1990 - 4 Door Range Rover Sold
Freelander - sent to the wreckers after one too many mechanical failures. The worst vehicle that I have ever owned, bar none.
    No.5 trailer - Sold
Crump & Cornish trailer - Sold.

    What's left?
1988 - Perentie (I love it to bits - it's taken me across Australia on one trip)
    1990 - 200tdi Manual D1 (used weekly)
2003 - 130 td5 single cab (project - plan to put a slide on camper on the back of it)
2006 - D3 petrol (project - just needs head lining done and it's ready for RWC)
2021 - Defender (146,000km on the clock and going strong. Best vehicle that I have ever owned)

Not much of a Land Rover collection anymore...

    But that's life!

I hope that your OKA is going well - I always wanted one.

    Cheers,
    GG.

Neither is comparing a new Defender with the old one, which was kinda my point.

Slow project, what with my own health issues. On that note, I hope the news for your wife is all good and positive. Always a worrying time.
