What I base this on... LR was selling about 150 defenders a month when I bought mine. That's no many. But the brand survived because it sold so many other models that dealers and their network could survive.

I believe they are selling about 100 grenadiers a month in Australia (Ineos stopped reporting sales... wonder why). I do not believe this is enough to sustain a viable dealer/support network in a very large country like Aus.

IMHO They need to reduce the price to sell more to attain viability.. but they can't reduce the price because they only sell a few and the overheads need to be distributed over a small volume of cars...

Its a catch22 situation, lower the price and sell more vehicles etc.

I think someone is going to have to put on the big boy pants and go and tell head office that unless they allow them to sell them for less they aren't going to make it. I don't think it's a done deal yet, but I think the next couple of years will be critical. If they can't retain dealers because they can't sell more than a handful of cars then it's just a matter of time.

I really think the product has potential and it's no doubt getting better but you can't sell a 4wd for remote use if there is no support outside of capital cities. And no one in the bush is going to support a remote dealer if a LC 76 is 40k cheaper. Or if you can get an LC300 for the same price (or less)

Yep and no matter how many times Youtubers point out that if you brought a 70 series up to Ineos spec it would cost more than the Ineos, many people buy the LC and are happy with very modest mods only, and in that situation the cost difference is immense and the resale is there too. Cheers

As with so many of the promises.. didn't happen. Again why would you take on training people and putting in systems for such a small pool of cars?

Yep, everyone can point at a you tuber who sunk 50k or more straight into a new cruiser. Coil conversions, track corrections, monster this, monster that etc etc.

But the vast majority of them are out there working with relatively minimal mods.

While ineos copied the defender in many ways, they missed on the price. Mine was comfortably the cheapest option for a proper 4x4 on the australian market. Now ineos are trying to charge more for a utility vehicle than legacy manufacturers are charging for their top of the line 4x4 offerings. Charging more for less is really tricky.. once you've sold one to the "must haves" its going to be very hard going. And thats where we are now.

I've said I think they just need to be close to a 76 to stand a chance, but with the brand damage from inflating the prices and then potentially deflating them.. I think they are really going to be pushing it up hill. They've already done some solid price reductions, but they still need to do some really big ones and leave at the competitive price to try and turn it around. If you were someone thinking about taking on a ineos dealership, you'd now want to see evidence that the things are saleable in quantities to make a business case. Running constant specials and incentives that never stop is not a good look. Ineos don't seem to be ready to do what is required this at this point which is why I can't see them lasting.

I saw a blue Quartermaster with after market tray near Rosewood this evening. I say after market as it didn't have the distinctive large round tail lights.

Ineos was highly visible as a sponsor of the Mundi Mundi bash.

Vehicles got plenty of comments and were available to drive.

They had some fully ?expedition? decked out and were provided for the Organisers to use as work hacks too.

I still like them, price just doesn't add up when I can build this for just $30k more and have no GVM issues at all.
