    Saw that. It shows that having just a handful of dealers is untenable for a car maker whose cars are sold on the premise that they are to be driven in the outback. Even once they had recovered it to cairns it then had to be freighted to Brisbane FFS.

    This is a reasonably foreseeable event. Ineos need to have contingencies. At launch they were promising "flying spanners".

    "Ineos flying spanners" refers to
    a program by INEOS Automotive where technicians are dispatched to remote locations to perform emergency repairs on Ineos Grenadier vehicles. This "off-grid support" is for when owners are in difficult-to-access areas and the vehicle requires a critical fix, and the technicians will fly to the location to minimize downtime.
    I remain convinced that at the current prices and sales levels Ineos is not viable in Australia. They need to sell enough cars to have agents in remote areas.

    Just sold mine today with utter relief. Back at Toyota Land Cruiser, this time a GXR 300. Had big hopes this piece of s…t would make the grade. Bought it six months ago and fell in love with the idea of the vehicle - after aircon unit went busted and required the whole dash to be pulled out, software glitches, radio not holding memory and number off issues the dealer swopped it, after convincing me to pay in on the second. Then the second one arrived in Trailmaster trim. Two months later and the first rain came, literally raining inside the vehicle, then a park distance problem - send back twice without bothering, a window replaced with rust in sill, premature rubber wear on drivers door, jumping consumption display without getting it to stabilize, and then yesterday after receiving the vehicle back after a week with engine lights on the dash and the same parking distance control that is still beeping. After two vehicles I was out of a vehicle for 5 weeks to repair the un-repairable. The only people that seems to think this is a great vehicle is the once that will not admit the depreciation and problems. This is in my opinion the poorest vehicle ever brought to market at a premium price. I have owned at this stage 47 vehicles touring Africa and driving the poorest roads - I do not even considered taking it off road after all the problems. The dealers last words yesterday made up my mind “ I did not build the vehicle - I only have to repair it”Trust me after six Land Cruiser’s rather get another than this piece of slapped together cr..p

    IMHO this is going to be on the Ineos timeline in Australia.

    2022 pre orders open
    2023 first deliveries
    2025 Low mileage engines start blowing up and Ineos actively tries to hush it up.
    2027 Ineos shuts up in Australia.

    Lets hope for INEOS sake that Ronny Dahl has a better experience in his QuarterMaster

    The LR Dealer that services my Defender took on an Ineos Dealership. They commenced building a separate showroom 2 years ago....it is still not finished and resembles a derelict building site. The surrounding streets are littered with Grenadiers. It seems that the dream is just that.

    Just remember something damaged the engine that was not Ineos's fault but it beggars belief that it has to be kept a secret. What are they hiding?

    I don't think it matters to me at least how RD goes with it.

    We've got an engine that failed for undisclosed reasons (not during a water crossing). Then there is a trail of oil on the ground behind it and not good sounds.

    Massive recovery bills. Once they got it out they chose to recover it past 5 ineos agents.

    Then it needs a new engine. Of which there is only one in the world. And it costs $65k. And Ineos won't warranty it.

    If I'd spent 140k on a car and go for a drive. And for environmental reasons my engine needs replacing. And it's $65k. Plus towing from the cape past all the other dealers. Plus nearly 6 months.

    That's a hard hard hard no from me.

    I've downloaded this video because I'd be surprised if it isn't taken down pretty soon. If I'm ever contemplate buying one I can watch it again.

    It wasn't a "water crossing", but it was a creek bed crossing. Perhaps he hit something. I found that video annoying in that John Canny wanted to hog the limelight, and Arthur wasn't able to say much. Not much wheat to go with the chaff. But, that's just me.

    I understand why Ineos would be keeping stum on the issue if they haven't got to the bottom of it, but if it turns out to a driver error that caused it then someone made the wrong call. The insurer should have been very high on the list of calls made, and certainly before a tow was arranged.

    Don't get me wrong, Ineos' handling of this is going to turn into a PR nightmare, here in the land of the Land Cruiser. I'm not defending Ineos, but having to get the car freighted to Brissy isn't as rare as it seems. I vividly recall a bloke who suffered the same fate as he had dropped his keys in the saltwater and his car became immobilised. This car was a Patrol, not a newish entry into the market.

    Ineos will suffer from this if the word spreads, which it will in the small community. The service offered is simply not good enough. Unlike some, I understand the logistical difficulties they face, but they definitely should not have tried to expand into this market without sufficient back up.We don't do "green laning" here, and in the US you're never truly remote like you can be here. I'm not in the market, but this incident wouldn't put me off the car itself, I have broken a few over the years. But Ineos' response, taken at face value, would. Even the new OKA mob offer better help. But, I have to wonder if LR would do any better, if this had been a new 110. I highly doubt Toyota would have helped either, if it was indeed driver error, but they at least would have some place much closer, and a decent parts chain. But, they have been here for over 60 years, and have invested in their network in that time. Used to be Holden and Ford's bailiwick.

    Personally, I want the Gren to succeed. But they dropped the ball on pricing, imo, and this will be a very large finger on the scales unless they offer some goodwill.

    The flying spanners ineos promised at launch .. this is exactly where they should have been used. Fly a tech to cairns or even cooktown and fix it if simple or workout what has to happen next. If you're selling a car for remote use, and have a scant dealer network this would have been an excellent way of compensating.

    To be fair i don't think the situation would be any better for any of the new similar priced vehicles on the market, certainly not with an L663 or a Y62, LC300 for that matter.
    Pretty **** to keep the cause of failure so tight lipped unless they are trying to cover something up and the insurance company are no better playing war games behind the scenes.
