or to be even more procise... Geländewagen :D
But too much of a mouthful for me so will stick with G Wagon :p
Just a pity there is no chance of us getting them after the army finishes because MB will buy them back.
New they are very expensive compared to the defender. when they first came out they competed price wise with the range rover really.
They used to sell only about 5 a year in the uk in their hight
Hi there
We have a retired camel farmer whom used to reside up north (Alice Springs area) whom has retired to Quorn in the flinders ranges (35 km from us).
He has tried alot of vehciles whin the desert and he still has two of the early MB G-Wagens (one for spared) and they are very capable vehicles off road in the standard trim.
The only problems I see - hope your not in a hurry as they are bloody slow (80-90km hrs) on the highway.

I saw a ropy short wheel base G wagon on the side of the road in cleveland and nearly stopped and offered the chap money for it. But i did not and now wish i had now
The new ones the army are getting TDV6 3 diff locks would have to be the 4wd of all 4wd's. Landrover should have done the same with the new defender. A G wagon would be about the only 4wd that would kill a defender not only off road but in every other department too. Well made and looks the goods to. Wish they sold them here.
Two currently for sale that I could find.
