they are brillaint and could have been a great competitor against a fender... powerful, difflocks etc.
I can only remember seeing 1 or 2 in the past few years.
The other day I saw 2 in the space of 20 mins heading into the city the other night.
Any one had any expirence with them, how would they stack up against a Defender ??.

I would say they would be the only FACTORY STANDARD 4wd that would out perform a FACTORY STANDARD Landrover.
Ive had a ride in one in some real tough terrain.Factory lockers all round make you go a long way.
Last few trips to Perth Ive noticed plenty on the roads too,Im guessing they are secondhand ex Jap imports.Pick one up for $12 to $15G and you have the basis of an awsome tough off-roader.

Plus now it's going to the Australian army as of next year supplying 1100 vehicles.Marking its 25th anniversary, the 2005 Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG was relaunched as the G55 Kompressor or G55K and received a boost in power, thanks to a 5.5-liter, supercharged V8 developing 469 horsepower (350 kW) and 516 ft·lbf (700 N·m). of torque.
If the fender ever disappears i'd be getting one of these for sure...

Flawless.... the Merc 300D was the Td5 of the eighties... beautiful vehicles, bulletproof diesel engine.
I guess we talking about the 1980s Merc G wagon rather than the 1980s Toyota Landcruiser 60 series G wagon. Hmmm took a while to work that out

Yep, stonking trucks.
I've got a mate out in Romania who wins events in his one. He rolled it down a hillside one time, 5 complete rolls and it barely marked the body shell!!!
I'd be happy to run one, if I could afford it!!! The V8 is the one I like.

We will be seeing alot more off them soon. The Army is buying a couple of thousand of them. Pat
