Typhoons and Missiles get ready for the Olympics

All 3 Services in the UK this week started a week long exercise, in preparation for the Olympics

Typhoons Landed at RAF Northolt for the first time, not a very long runway here, wonder if that will cause any problems, notice the quick build hangers...

Also a number of mobile Rapier systems will be based on civilian land , ie public parks etc, and the StarStreaker system missile.

Yes I liked that one too, its a Merlin HM2, not a super puma, RN don't use the super puma.

Any pics or details of the huge warship that is now up in the Thames as command centre. Heard about it last night.

wow thats impressive but if they think all of that is required then they must be expecting an established army/navy/airforce to attack the olympics - what will all that do against a small sneaky bunch of terrorists that walk in and detonate?

It's a prime time military expo and they are just showing off. Would love to see typhoons whizzing around over london... but those residents close to the airport might have the novelty wear off pretty quick!

Another interesting detail is the kill count patches on the DF Typhoon!

If the Sydney Olympics are anything to go by, the RN, RAF and Artillery Corps, will have to be very security conscious during the foreign teams presence.

After our event, most of the medical kits, complete with defibrilators and cardiac monitors supplied to teams, were deployed back to their home countries. One team even tried to check a golf cart, redeployed from the Olympic Village, as luggage on their flight back to Africa.

Would hate to see the Navy missing a frigate or the RAF missing a Typhoon after the games!

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
