Just a shame to see an historic aircraft meet such a ordinary ending.
I remember the days when there was 2 Neptunes slowly rotting away at the dump at RAAF base Garbutt plus numerous Huey bits and pieces. One of them now stands at the entrance to the base.
    Cheers......Brian

They shouldn't have driven it past Temora, it should have gone into the excellent Warbirds Museum they have there.

    Cheers, Mick.

spent many years based at AMB with the tripple ones taking off not far from the transmitter building I worked in. also used to service the EVD bombing range where the pigs would come screaming in at low altidute then pull up to do toss bombing. Great to see.

Unfortunately the F111 is a strategic weapon system, and came with little black boxes for weapons we supposedly dont have. Hence the yanks wont let us sell them on and they had to be buried.

Bit like in the 20s or 30s when a lot of capital ships including HMAS Australia were scuttled due to the Washington Naval treaty.

I'm sure the Indos sleep more soundly now

In fact only some of the models we purchased were so equipped, not all.

The governments argument for the non-nuke ones revoves around asbestos and potetnial liability....

All bull**** of course because they were at one stage trying to sell them (for ridiculous sums of money) for static display.
