I've been tempted a few times by the Victa (like this one: Airtourer 115 VH_MUF for sale in Australia own a part of Australias history ) - but I'd really prefer a helicopter licence. My wife says I can do the heli training but I really can't justify the expense.

I've liked the Victa since I first saw one in the Sixties.

I have a whole 2 hours dual in a helicopter. While great fun I couldn't justify the costs to get a private license. And the range of a small helicopter is quite limiting for touring so I put it on hold. It does make a twin endorsement look cheap.

A friend of mine has left fixed wing and now has his commercial helicopter license with several endorsements although he is not flying commercially. Just for the fun of it.

Without looking for my old logbook, I'm pretty certain MUF is one of the Victas I learnt on in 1966.

At the air show was a old mate of mine who is now doing 2 seat training on gyrocopters................they have come along way in recent years and the cost is no where near expensive as general aviation .
The machine at the airshow had a 115 hp cert rotax 914 four stroke, 70 knot cruise speed and about a 2.5 hrs range.
I flew more than 400 hrs on these machines and found they were alot of fun, gave the rotary wing experience.
While the air Victa were still on the ground with excessive wind or poor conditions the gyros are still flying.
I use to fly mine everywhere and trailer it to the area I wanted to use it.
I found flying in the weeds rounding up feral goats( out west) was some of the best flying to be had.

One of the best flights for me personally was many years ago in a home made machine with a Volkswagen motor, dawn take off near Nowra and watched the sun pop up over the ocean, climb inland over Kangaroo Valley and fly around the clouds and mist , buzz the family property, cut across to Fizroy Falls, Robertson and then drop down Macquire pass looking at the ocean again and the Albion Park airport and HARS site.
ON low queit decending power setting go over Bass point.
At 550ft follow the coast south just over the sea, Kiama over the blow hole and follow the basalt cliff line to Gerrowa.
At Seven mile beach , wave to the birds walking the beach and do some 500ft perving getting the birds to jump up and down if you know what I mean.
(I use to Land and take off on seven mile beach to go swimming at times in summer)
Climb again and pass directly over Mt coolangatta and then oberserve the beauty of the mountains in land .
Then land in a pacddock at a friends place.
All done on a perfect day.
Who needs to fly at 200 kts and 5ooo ft ?

Had my old Studebaker 6x6 there at the show too.

I learnt to fly in DAG, I'm sure you'd remember if you flew a MUF.....

I was up at the Land & Air Show at "Emu Gully" near Helidon close to Toowoomba Qld yesterday and a few aircraft from Zucoli's took part,I took the Lightweight up as part of the Jeep Club display,there are a couple of their pilots that are club members, one has a very nice "slat grille" jeep as well as an MB model, Giudo's Boomerang is now on display at Oakey Aviation Museum.
