I have often wondered why, when landing and take off, the window shade must be open.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

So they can see where the flames are if there is a crash and know which exits to not use - seriously, that's why.

And so rescue crews can see in. And so the 'cleaners' don't need to take extra time opening them on the ground...

But the worst thing they aren't telling you is how inexperienced many of them are. That's generally offset by the reliability of a modern fleet these days - thank goodness.

Are you referring to the cleaners or pilots?

Me to. Air crash Investigation is one of my favorite TV shows. Many an incident has been averted due to the pilots actions.

When a human is at fault more often than not the human is not the pilot but ground staff.

This is why we need pilots to to try to sort these problems.
