Have to say I was always very keen on this subject. My grandfather was in the RFC (later RAF) and he flew Sopwith Camels and SE5s. He was extremely tall (so god knows how he fit into them) and he had a big moustache and was always a gentleman. He just seemed like the fighter pilot type to a young boy even in his 80s.

As a result first my father and then myself were fans of Biggles. Which interestingly he promoted whereas he did not like many books or films/TV on the subject. The exception being a BBC production called "Wings".
