More like the standard of their trained in a day very cheap load control outsourcing.
Ahh....the wonderful days at TAA where we cleared all MEL's every flight or next day when spares arrived, LOCO's did manual load sheets and got it right..
I am just a silly old fart with good memories of the true glory days in aviation.

Supposedly this should never happen with the computerised check in systems of today. There is hardly anyone left that can do a manual load sheet for an aircraft these days in the event of a computer meltdown - God help us!!

Another silly old fart here mate. Ex TAA staff as well. Q13 was my LOCO number - have some good memories as well from my Mt Isa service in the '70's and 80's with 727's, DC9's, F27's DHC6's and all the Bush Pilots machines like DC3's, 402's, 310's BN Islander and Trilander Cessna 210 etc. Those WERE the good old days where we got it right as you say. We actually used to weigh passengers and baggage for the BPA flights and anything that was close to max TOW in those days.

I was a LAME in SYD but used to go to CBR and LST at times. Was good friends with a MEL LOCO Gil Smaller.
It is not until those days are long gone that you realise how good we had it .

Guessed you were a LAME mate, do you remember any of these names, Ross Carter, Alan Marchant, Hans Hellberg alais "wingnut", Warren Shapcott (Halfshot), Bill Chalmers(Sliprock), Graham Bowden, Geoff Thomas, Kev Haase (Hayseed) - all LAME'S from Brisbane. Some fond memories from back then. I think I remember Gill as all our LOCO communication in those days way by phone. Ever run into a couple of 727 jockeys called Niall Sullivan or Charlie Gray. A pair of characters, another one who comes to mind is Col Winchester, just got onto jets when the pilots dispute happened - don't know where he ended up after that.

I do remember a few of those names, I do wonder where they are now.
I left in 1980 and worked overseas in both GA and small airlines and finally retired from full time work in 2011. I finally came back to Australia permanently. Since then I have not been busier with contract work as I am still trying to retire. End Nov "can you just help for a week or two" but will be lucky to be home for xmas. It is an old fart thing, first at work and last to leave but it goes into the holiday fund.

I know what you mean. I am still trying to retire but keep getting casual work offers too. One day the big holiday will start
