I am reminded of a case about thirty years ago, where a pilot of a Zlin, finding one wing starting to fail in upward bending, rolled inverted, and returned inverted to the airfield, rolled upright, and survived the resulting crash with minor injuries.

Another one, actually a test pilot, was flying from the UK to France with his family in a prototype aircraft in about 1950, from memory. Just after crossing the channel, the engine left the plane as the result of losing a propeller blade. He allowed it to complete a loop, during which he transferred the two kids to the front seat, keeping the tail heavy trim within the limit of the elevator power. He then completed the forced landing with no further damage to the aircraft.

I may have some of the details wrong, just going on memory.
