It has long been clear to me that as soon as battery cars become really practical, so are battery light aircraft, at least for short range applications. Batteries today are quite a bit heavier than petrol with the same energy content, but there is a gain in that electric motor and control equipment will be a lot lighter than the piston engine. Not realisable in the application pictured, because it uses existing airframes, are further advantages of not needing quite as strong (and hence heavy) airframes as they do not have to withstand the engine vibration, and the ability to improve streamlining because less cooling is needed. (I wonder how they plan cabin heat, quite an energy consumer in Canada!)
