Pity the Australian government doesn't have the foresight (or will) to do the same (with the exception of throwing $81 million at REX - an almost wholly owned Singaporean company that services so little of australia in comparison). That only happened because of the political connections of a certain board member with the National Party.
6000+ jobs gone at Qantas. 3000+ gone at Virgin. Not to mention the innumerable other jobs linked with tourism and transport that will, or have already gone.
Well done, Australia!
