    Replace/Rebuild front propshaft

    Appears my poor hail damaged V6 has also lost something underneath.
    Some vibration has been around for a while and slowly increasing, I have some replacement front driveshafts/CVs on the way to be installed and I had put the vibration down to wear and tear of the old CVs.
    Today I swapped back from road to off-road wheels and during my quick test drive had a new and intrusive noise. Hello I thought, my cobbled up R/H driveshaft/CV has given up, sounds like loose bits clunking around in the CV.
    But no it appears it might be the CV on the front propshaft, the one that connects to the output shaft of the gearbox.
    Has noticable movement if you grab hold of the propshaft and give it a shake.

    Anyone offer some advice on rebuilding or replacing the propshaft?

    Try someone that recons CV joints they may be able to recon that joint. turner drive shafts recon CV and have offices around AUS

    Thanks for that.

    I had a better look this morning and found the noise was in fact my overworked and cobbled together (as a temporary measure more than 1 year ago) front R/H outer CV. Never been completely grease tight and was closer to dry than lubricated, except for the water. Slipped the boot off and stuffed it back full of grease which silenced the little fellow.
    Hopefully my new CVs will turn up shortly.
    The CV on the propshaft does have some movement in it and may well be vibrating, also noticed that it has flung a small amount of grease on the underfloor, not much and none on the boot itself, but maybe worth pulling apart for a better look before I replace it.

    Apparently the bearings that hold the VCU in its cradle also can fail so you might just double check them. My CV on the front prop shaft has done 270,000lm and is still going well.
