    Engine malfunction warning light

    Dear mates!
Our FL Td4 (2003 MY) has developed a problem I have been unable to solve so far. As soon as the speed exceeds 120 kph the amber engine malfunction warning light comes on, and the car's power appears to be below average. Dropping the speed below 120 kph and the light extingushes again.
Apart from that performance appears to be unaffected. Nothing similar has appeared earlier.
I should get a fault code read out but my local LR dealership cannot offer me an appointment within reasonable time , hence the need for your valued advice!
    Cheers

There are people who spend all weekend cleaning the car.
And there are people who drive Discovery.

Sorry to hear about your problem and I can't help you with it, but your LandRover dealer offering you an appointment just to read error codes caught my eye. Must be a small dealer, I recently had a problem with my FL KV6 (2001MY) and I took it to a local four wheel drive shop ( not an "official" LR dealer) and they drove the car into the workshop there and then and within fifteen minutes I knew what my problem was. Cost me $66 for the exercise though. Anyrate, best of luck!!!

Could find the fault now, after having the fault code read out with help of a mate with a test book... it was as easy as a tiny split in the intercooler-to-manifold hose. Now fixed.

The official LR-representative is a major outlet, representing a plethora of other makes as well (Merc, Jeep/Chrysler and various Eastern Asian manufacturers). Obviously, they are no use after one has purchased a vehicle from them .

    Cheers

Have you had the crank case breather changed?. My parents TD4 kept blowing intercooler hoses and it blew blue smoke on start up, it also had a lot of oil in the intake side. changed the crank case filter and it has been good ever since. This filter causes turbo failure after a while when it gets blocked.

Great advice, mate! No, haven't checked that. Yet... will be done soon! Thanks for the hint!
