Question Is 2006 Freelander a good buy???

    Hi everyone,

I'm new in here. I'm thinking about buying a freelander for daily use. Is this car a good buy? Will the car cost alot to maintenance? (like services & repair) Also, will this car keep having any small problem???

Thanks for anyone answer my question !!!!

    2006 thats year from FL1 to FL2 I'll make the assumption you are getting a FL1 ?

I don't suppose they will cost any more or less over a year for maintenance than any other car, regular maintenance is key.
I have a ford at the moment which is a pita and cost a fortune for servicing.

The are a couple of things to make sure you check which is the VCD, (viscous coupling thingy) and the IRD, not sure what it stands for but its the freelander version of a transfer box.

ermmm head gasket on the petrol models thats about it.

If your after a FL2, they are cool not much to worry about at all AFAIK

I don't think there was a 2006 MY Freelander sold here. They were busy get rid of the last of the 2004 & 2005 MY cars in 2006.

Check the build plate before committing.

I believe the FL2 came out in early 07 so a "06" model is a FL1 TD4 Auto. But as indicated the FL1 stopped being imported in 05 but stock continued to sell (with virtually no sales) until the FL2 was released.

As Scouse indicated - if this vehicle is being sold as a 06 model it was most likely made much earlier - so check the build date.

Also as Ausfree said - problems well and truly fixed by then.
