    2001 Freelander Problems

Hi, My name is Mike, & back in August, I purchased a 2001 Freelander SE V6, from a dealer in Surfers Paradise. Everything seemed fine, it had a Queensland RWC & had just been serviced. I had to get to Western Australia quickly, so hit the road.
Problems started a couple of days later, when, after filling it up, it wouldn't start. No warning lights on dash & starter motor operating & engine turning - but no ignition. After leaving it for about 30 minutes, tried again & "Hey Presto" - it started. This problem returned everytime the engine was stopped for a few minutes & I tried to restart. In the end, kept engine running each time I refueled.
In WA, it went into a garage, where they found No6 cylinder ignition coil badly burned, only 1 bolt (finger tight) holding it on & a heavy duty black cable not even connected. Also, No6 Injector leaking. On trying to remove, they found all 6 injectors glued in.
So, new ignition coil was fitted, new injectors installed, cable reconnected & various clamps etc replaced.
All seemed fine for a while, then the problem returned.
It appears to me that this is a "Temperature Related" thing, & I have been told that it could be either the Crank Sensor or the Cam Sensor.
Has anyone experienced this sort of thing?
Any info would be gratefully appreciated.
Hope you all had a good Christmas & Best Wishes for the New Year.
    Mike.

classic Cam angle sensor issues. It would log a fault code in the engine ECU. Get the codes read .
Coil and injector were different problems, the symptoms to these would be a engine miss, low power and a fuel smell.

Yep, similar situation happened to my 2001 KV6 Freelander about six months ago. Was the Cam Sensor, which I had replaced and the vehicle has run faultlesly ever since.Cost about $300 parts and labour.
