    Blardy Hell!

    Drove to work today - just as I get in the driveway all hell let loose!!

    Steam from uner the bonnet!!

    Parked it up , raised the bonnet, prepared for the worst!

    Closer inspection revealed totally seperated/broken 'T' junction on radiator hose!

    Fast and furious phoning for replacement parts - all roads lead to Land Rover dealership

    Drove down to get it, T part not sold seperately, can only get it in whole assembly (Radiator hoses included) $175!!!

    Had no choice really.

    OK now I got it, I spose when I fit aforementioned hose section I will need to bleed the radiator system

    Is there any particular 'trick' involved?

    I've been told there are 'bleed valves' in some systems that assist in releasing air pockets.

    Cant say I've seen it in mine (mind you I haven't had a really good look yet - will be fitting the parts on Sunday when I get time)

    Anyone got experience in this?

    Btw its a 2001 KV6 Petrol

    On earlier models it is on top of the heater hose as it exists the engine bay to go into the cabin on the just right of centre firewall. Is a large knurled brass screw about the size of a 5c piece unless it has been replaced by a everyday screw like mine has.

    Yours may be different though.

    Its right where Gary said. Top heater hose as it goes into cabin.
    Your bung will be plastic.
    Fill coolant with engine stopped until it runs out that hole. The start engine and let it idle for 5 min. Then pump accelerator for 5 min (This will get air lock out). Keeping a eye on coolant level. Go for a short drive and then let it cool, then check coolant level.

    Thanks for the advise guys!

    Got a shock when it happened.

    Have had a cursory look can find the bleed valve but I did find a valve that looks like a truck tyre valve extension poking out from the hoses and wiring, mid engine, but nothing from the heater hoses mentioned.

    Anyways still have to fit the parts yet so will have a proper look.

    Why did LR make it so f**king hard to reach the hose clips?

    That piece that looks like a valve extension is for checking fuel rail pressure. Its between back of the engine and the firewall ,its in a bugger of a spot. If you can find where the heater hoses go into the cabin you will find them. Like Garry said the top of the bung is about the size of a 5c piece.

    Well after a few choice words, and a few bruised/cut knuckles, I managed to fit the new radiator hoses!

    Thanks for helping me with the bleed valve, I did eventually find it!! lol

    Only thing is I now have a metal screw - the plastic one dropped down the vast balck hole of the engine bay, never to be seen again!!

    Replaced some of the smaller lines as well, mainly cos thery were brittle and some were rubbing against the engine, just waiting to burst!

    - what a performace to get them in!! How the hell do the mechanics deal with it!!?? - theres not much space to get a pair of long nose pliers in, or even a screwdriver!

    Numerous dropped hose clamps (usually down the abyss) and I infuriated myself by slashing a new hose whilst trying to cut another 'baked on' hose off its fitting!! (was met with curses, oaths, and a fit of rage!)

    Anyways its all back together - no leaks - YET!
