			Tailgate window broken mechanism

G'day, after operating the rear window to clear dew (lazy, I know) on my '98 model it went "clunk" after it started coming up and then stopped. Now the window mechanism is disconnected from the actuator. The window is free (can go up and down by hand) and the motor turns okay when the switch operated. There's a beep associated with the motor which I'm guessing means something is broken. Looking inside I can't quite workout the what's what. Anyone have experience with this and/or some piccies. I'm reasonably savvy with technical matters just need some guidance.

 Thanks guys, Wal

The window regulators are cable operated. They come as a whole assembly. Spend the extra and get a genuine one as the aftermarket ones are rubbish. The price will scare you aswell. the cables are available on ebay out of Turkey , I dont know what there like.

Somebody from here has already tried the Turkish ones and he didn't speak too highly of them. Do a search you might be able to find the Thread!!

I pulled the lot apart and discovered the motor torque had split the mounting holes (very thin metal). It appears that the cable drive has failed internally. I strengthened the area near the mounting holes and refitted. It went together pretty well, but alas no success. I ended up bracing the window 99% up (so it can open and close with the door) and left the plug off. All good as a regular door, but the heater and wiper and now inop. Seems the electrics are all connected. I'll save up for new mechanism...

Crickey! That's a nonsense. If I come across a cheapie in a wreck, I'll think about fixing properly. Thanks for the tips.
