    01 SE Tiptronic

    Hey Guys,

You would of most probably had this thread up a few times in the past,
but l have just purchased an 01 Freelander SE V6. Nice unit and purchased at a worth while price.
The previous owners experienced the Tiptronic not operating at all.
Was quoted huge amounts of money to repair or replace.
I will bring it home tomorrow and start to have a further look.
The car is in perfect order otherwise, and seems a waste to part it out if l may be able find a solution.

Any ideas, or suggestions to first look at??

    Appreciate any kind assistance.
    Cheers Dave

To use the "tiptronic"-style gear change you will have to move the lever to the right, doing so will set the transmission into "Sport"-mode, indicated on the tachometer display. I'd check if the transmission pops into sport mode, if not there may be some readjustment of the linkage required to make it working again. If it works in sport mode it should also work as tiptronic. Or there may be a sensor that is out of order... Just a guess.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.
    Cheers
    Johannes

There are people who spend all weekend cleaning the car.
And there are people who drive Discovery.

If the tiptronic part is not working and the rest of the gear box is operating normally, there can be only 3 problems. The gear stick is unserviceable or the ECU is playing up or the wiring from the gear stick to the ecu has broken. You will need to get in plugged in, and see if the ECU is getting a signal from the gear stick.
