Taking Delivery of a Cactus 2001 V6 SE Freelander

    Hi Team Aulro.

Its been a while.. I am a reformed Aulroholic who after completely rebuilding a dead 95' P38 freaking out and never driving it, then eventually selling it has decided to do it all again.. this time with a Black 2001 V6 SE Freelander which I 'saved' from our family mechanic/wrecker...

The good news is that its still runs.... though from what I know thus far requires a new head gasket and has a transmission issue.. I already know all about slipped liners, though I don't think the motor has been overheated.

its already been converted to LPG and the body etc seems to be in good nick, interior needs a good clean and the headliner is coming down. (typical!)

Will post up through the journey and of course be hitting the forums to source a bit of technical info.. thus far from early research the Freelander don't seem to be as 'loved' as the P38's? though I could find that I am wrong...

I am in WA and any local advice would be appreciated.. have already contacted Linn Rover to see what they have available as that is where I go my P38 motor from.

Just like MR Schwarzenegger.. I'll be back..

    and now I am.

    Regards

    Kalincho.

Thanks Woko, will cross that bridge when we get to it, have been studying up and the hope is that its a head gasket and a few replacements Ie the thermostat. (saw your link.. ) if there is an issue with the VCU It may be castrated to a front wheel drive. (for my partner)

Take delivery today and there is no real rush to get it done, so it is more of 'project' car.. to make up for the loss of my P38!

SHMBO found out and said no to the Freelander.

Luckily I was able to renege on my offer to purchase. A bit saddened to do it, though after studying up it seems like this model was destined for the scrap heap. I have investigated the diesel models though they are a bit pricey for what I am after.

Sorry to waste your time on the post and if moderators want to delete please do.

Wanted to be back so much.

and Ron, on my advice it would be the best and the worst decision to get rid of your P38, though from your understanding of the car it may be one of the most reliable in Australia..
