    TD4 Clutch Cylinder Replacement

Has anyone had much experience with the TD4 (Freelander 1, 2001) clutch system? I had the master cylinder replaced back in March due to the clutch pedal loosing pressure, I was told that it should do the trick. However, the problem is surfacing again. Apparently (because you can't bleed the system) you need to replace both cylinders at the same time, lest the failed on lets air into the system and damages the other.

Is this correct? Since the slave cylinder is inside the gearbox, it is going to be an expensive repair to do both cylinders, and maybe the clutch at this point too (193k-kms).

It is only the L series/1800 clutch system that cannot be bled. The system on the TD4 is completely different to the earlier system and the workshop manual describes the system of bleeding.

Maybe you need to get a Haynes Manual or a RAVE manual (sold on AULRO).

Thanks for that, I was going off information given to my by my Land Rover mechanic! I checked my Rave manual after your comment. That was helpful, thanks! I still think there is a small leak in the Slave, but I will see how quickly it deteriorates, having just bleed the system.
